I've been in Korea for a few months now and would like to find some other people to run/train with. Training on my own is becoming a bit boring and I'd also like to meet some fellow runners. If anyone is part of a group that does regular runs (preferably on weekends), I'd appreciate it if you would give me some information as to when and where you/your group typically runs from. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.
I'm in Seoul. I'm also tring to get some runners together. I've found two others. Can you run on Sundays? There's a track by Korea University. I'm trying to get a group together.
ok, i haven't been to this site in a long time. My buddy and I usually run 20+ miles every Sat. We meet at my house in Hannam (near the river). however, after this week we will begin tapering for an upcoming marathon. but we will be starting up again soon if interested.
Hi Brent, I and another guy are training a couple of times a week together. One day is 10 x 400 (on a field so times are a bit bogus), another day hard runs up a 250m hill and last we will be starting back at the track (Korea sports university at Olympic Park station, line 5) this month. We need committed runners.
2) What days do you go to the track? Is it always 400's? About what pace do you aim for/expect?
I'm mostly a 5/10km guy (though I'd train more for track races if it I had the time and facilities here). I am fairly committed (I try to run on my own 6 days a week and I've been keeping to something of a training plan for the next few months). I'm just really looking for someone to run with and had given up hope a while back (when I do races, I've been near the front of the packs and none of those who have beaten me or I have beaten really seem to want to try to talk to me to train with them).
Hi Michael. I want to run a good 400 and 800 but one of my training partners is working on his 5/10. We're around Kyoung hee everyday and at the Olympic track Saturday mornings at 11. Track is 4x300m at 43-44 second on 4min breaks at the moment. I'd say the 400's are at about 66 sec (We hit those on Thursdays at a soccer field). Drop me a line if you can jump in (Our regular group is now up to 3 and we could achieve critical mass at 5 I think)
Not sure if I can make those times... and I'm also not sure if I can work those workouts into my schedule. I need to get longer intervals in for the races I'm doing here and I don't have time for those during the week... anyway, you don't want to hear my life story.
Two questions (just cause I'm interested):
1) are there track races here in Korea? I mean, I know there are, but I have no idea how to find out about them. I'd probably be interested in watching. Doubt I could get myself into track race shape (I just don't have the time to recover from the more intense workouts with teaching as much as I do here).
2) What's a good 800 for you? (I figure 52 would be a good 400 since that is your stated goal on your profile). Let me know, I did the double (and probably am more suited to that double than the 5/10km split) and managed a 1:56.9 and 51.5 a few years back and have never stopped wondering what I could do if I had another opportunity....
No open track races (just university and nationals). I'm far away from my goals, but I want to go sub 2. Right now I'd be doing well if I could go 2 10. You're PB/s are great. Let me know if you can ever make it out,JMF
hi, i would be keen to train with you..havn't run for a while but really want to get into it. Would it be sweet if I rocked up on a Sat morning to see how you guys do it?
Sure, We're at the Korean Sports university at Olympic Park. Shoot me an e-mail at manfromcanada@gmail.com and I'll meet you at the subway st.-It's line 5 bound for Machon
Yeah, sounds good. I might drop you a line in a couple of weeks or so
after I have done a bit more of getting back into it. I have seriously just started
training again this week. Cheers though mate
