Running in Korea

.."JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT"..

Charis Cook

Is anyone else doing the 10/2/09 Marathon/Half Marathon/10k/5k?

I really want to do the half-marathon. That's Chuseok Friday, so I will have Saturday and Sunday to rest before going back to work. Also the weather will be perfect around that time. Anyone else planning on doing that race or want to? Let me know :)

Oh my word! I didn't know about it. Where is it? I will totally do it with you. I would love to run a half marathon, and that is plenty of time to train and get ready. Let me know the details, and I will sign up.....like today!

Hey Charis, both my husband and I will be keen to register for that race. Can you tell me where we need to go to register? Also, if you're keen there is a run along the DMZ. Full/Half/10 - on the 13th September. They'll have free shuttle buses from Seoul.

I can speak Korean so I saw it on the race schedule on this site. I need to buckle down with my training and what better way than to train for a halfsy? The DMZ race sounds AMAZING!!! I am definitely down. I'm trying to figure out if we can sign up without a Korean ID number, and I'll keep you posted. Otherwise, we can just find a Korean citizen to sign up for us. Where do you live, Anina? Alanna and I both live around Daechi Dong. It would be fun to train together sometime!

I live in kyongnidan, down the hill from the Hyatt hotel in Itaewon. I took up running a couple of months ago and have so far taken part in 3 fun runs. I'm now up to running 7ks 3 times a week. Here are the details for the DMZ run - it's pretty cool, there is an English part to the site and even pics of each kilometer. www.dmzrun.co.kr

Have you signed up for the DMZ race yet? What distance are you going to do? I'm thinking of doing a 10k on the DMZ day since I won't have any days off to recover from a half. I think I'll do a half on the 10/2 race. Let me know if you signed up already!

Hey! I've tried a couple of times but I always get caught up when it asks for the address. It's been frustrating. I think I need to input it in Korean - which is a bummer considering I don't have korean lang. pack. I'll be doing the 10k - my very first so I'm pretty pumped about it. Now I just need to get through the registration >:(

Hey, Anina! I have had trouble signing up as well. I had my Korean co-worker help me, and she said that it looks like the race is full. If you have any luck, will you let me know, please? Thanks!

aww how annoying if that is the case! >:( I've been on the phone with the Seoul Global Centre in the hope that they'll play interpreter for me ;) I'm itching to register for another fun run but have walked into problems like "blocked emails" i.e: organiser blocks my e-mail hehehe it's quite funny really! I'll keep you posted.

Hey, my new running friend! I'm not glad that you're having problems, but I am glad that I am not the only one! I'll let you know if I come across some miraculous way to defeat the system and actually sign up for a race!

Argh! Too late for the DMZ run?? I'm having trouble signing up for both 10/2 and DMZ race and no one will respond to my emails :(

I just called the DMZ running people (the number that's listed on their website) and the guy I spoke with said I can still sign up, even though their website said the last day was 7/31. Still have time! Who's in? :)
