Running in Korea

.."JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT"..

Hey everyone,

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any shorter newbie-appropriate races that I could start training for after I've reached my 30 minutes straight goal. Preferably something in March or April before the weather gets too hot. (I'd be wary of races during winter . . . I don't want to run on ice . . . I merely want to complete a race as a goal . . . not necessarily to win).

I'm a newbie at running . . . . 3 weeks completed, but I feel great! I'm working my way up to 30 minutes of continuous running, and ran intervals of 4 minutes to 1 minute of walking last night.

Mandy,

Hello. I know you posted this question a while ago, but if you are still interested in races, go to www.smilerun.com and click on "Race Calendar." It is a very good list of races in Korea, and you'll see a bunch of 5 Km and 10 Km races for ya. He probably won't update the 2010 races for a few more weeks. Hope that helps. BTW, completing a race is an excellent goal !! Just take your time and enjoy the race...

Don't know whereabouts you are, but in Changwon in April I think there is a 5k race. The race calendar on the site is good and lists quite a few. I'm probably going to run the 10k in the Changwon race since I'm working up to that distance now. Congrats on progressing so far in your running! Hang in there now that it's getting frigid!
